| ARTS
IN EDUCATION TEACHING RESIDENCY AT THE HARLEM DAY CHARTER SCHOOL. In addition to our visits to public libraries, over the past two years, we've been managing an Arts Residency program at the Harlem Day Charter School with major support from the Peter Jar Sharp Foundation. Twice a week, our teaching artist, Melanie Amsterdam, has been coming to this elementary school teaching kids the joy of being creating through story-telling, and hands-on art projects. "I have always believed that the greatest place to call home is in the hearts of other people, especially children. I cannot express enough in words what this program means. You have to see the faces of these children; the smiles, the laughter, and the hugs. Especially the hugs! To reach one person and help is amazing, but through your program we reach so many. Thank you again for all your good work." Melanie Amsterdam, Teaching Artist in residence, Harlem Day Charter School |

| "Thank you so much for this program! We just finished up, and I now have about 20 very excited third-grade students, browsing for books and talking about the play they just saw. They were so "into" the play, they were shouting advice to the actors - there was as much action in the audience as there was at the front of the stage! All in all, a great success."
