"All three performances are excellent, particularly Susan O’ConnorSusan Greenhill brings dignity and spunk to the complex role of Sheila. Harold Surratt … is spectacular … in William Cusick’s excellent video projections. Frances Hill’s direction is strong and sharp. DiIorio is obviously a talented and fearless writer who should be watched." nytheatre.com

“Each day, I woke up and saw the possibility in things…”

Sheila Gold is a successful Jewish businesswoman facing terminal illness. As she grapples with a crisis of faith, she becomes enraptured with a charismatic televangelist she watches on TV. When Dr. Julius Strong appears at her door in person, is he there to heal her soul or steal her fortune?

As Sheila rediscovers her sensuality and joie de vivre, her headstrong daughter faces off against the minister. Sheila must ultimately choose between her old life and a new one in this poignant and humorous drama about mothers and daughters, lovers and faith.

DiIorio recently won a Berrilla Kerr Award for Playwriting. His plays have been broadcast internationally on BBC Radio and featured at the O’Neill Center, the Humana Festival, and New Dramatists

Apostasy was produced by the New Jersey Rep in August of 2006:

"an engaging, intelligent new play ... combines ripe theatricality with an exploration of some serious personal and social issues. It provides much food for thought while nimbly avoiding any offense to differing religious sensibilities" Talking Broadway

"Race, faith, money, betrayal, abortion, nudity, terminal illness, medical marijuana, middle-age sex ..it's a button-pusher that seeks to provoke a reaction at every turn, even as it foils most attempts to predict plotlines and pigeonhole motivations." Asbury Park Press

Gino recently won a Berrilla Kerr Award for Playwriting (2003). His plays have been finalists at the O’Neill Center, the Humana Festival and New Dramatist.
